Terms & Conditions


Bookings are confirmed on the condition that a non-refundable deposit* of a minimum of 30% of the total package price (or a different percentage may apply, depending on the individual booking) is paid to African Twist Travel at the time of booking to secure the reservations made. Should a higher deposit be necessary you would be advised at the time of booking. The balance of the cost of your travel arrangements must be paid no less than 6 weeks before the start of your itinerary. By paying the deposit the client agrees to these terms and conditions. 

If the booked stay cannot take place due to official covid-19 reasons, as defined below, the booked itinerary may be postponed up to 12 months, at no extra cost. Refunds are not applicable.

The COVID-19 period is deemed to be in effect for any of the following reasons:
1.1 The World Health Organisation COVID-19 pandemic status remains in place.
1.2 The government in the guest’s country of residence restricts all but essential travel.
1.3 South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho and Mozambique remain under official government lockdown that prohibits the guest from traveling as per their booked itinerary.
1.4 International flights are cancelled with no alternative routings available for the guest to use to reach the destination in their itinerary


Online payment with local EFT transfer in your own currency (without any international transaction fees), via international bank transfer or by credit card (MasterCard and VISA). Please note that we cannot accept any business or corporate credit cards.

Alternatively, international bank transfer. The client is responsible for any bank charges and transfer costs that occur.



It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all those travelling with you have a valid passport and any necessary visas, and that you have obtained any necessary inoculations to gain entry to any country you are visiting and to re-enter South Africa. Passport, visa regulations and health requirements can change at any time, therefore, we recommend that you check passport/visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the country you intend to visit and that you consult your GP or the Department of Health regarding health requirements. African Twist Travel accepts no liability whatsoever should you, or any member of your party, travel with the incorrect passport, visas or necessary vaccinations. As a guideline, passports should be valid for 6 months after your scheduled departure from South Africa.


The rate/prices quoted, are subject to change without prior notice. Where exchange rates are applicable these are subject to the official Bank Exchange Rate.


The private information required for executing the orders placed through the e-commerce facility, namely the User’s personal information and credit card details, delivery address and telephone numbers will be kept in the strictest confidence by the Provider and not sold or made known to third parties. Only the necessary information, that is the delivery address and contact phone number will be made known to third parties delivering the product.


We consider adequate travel insurance to be essential. All premiums must be paid at the time of booking, as cover will not be effective until then. Please inform yourself about suitable travel insurance in your home country before you start your trip. It should cover emergencies, accidents, illness and pandemics before and during your trip. African Twist Travel will not be liable if anyone should fail to take adequate insurance cover.

Documents (detailed vouchers, final itineraries, etc.) are only prepared on receipt of full payment of the package price.


In the unlikely event of there being an unscheduled extension to the holiday caused by flight delays, bad weather, strikes, or any other cause which is beyond the control of African Twist Travel, it is understood that the expenses relating to these unscheduled extensions (hotel accommodation etc.) will be for the account of the passenger. African Twist Travel accepts no liability for changes, omissions, strikes or communication breakdowns or the like.


The client acknowledges that the tour price and itinerary disclosed to him/her at the time of booking, or alternatively at the time that the deal was concluded (or payment made), may be varied by African Twist Travel and provided the itinerary is not substantially different from the itinerary that the client anticipated enjoying, the client shall not be entitled to cancel the tour arrangements. No refunds will be made for any unused services.


If you wish to cancel your booking, you must advise African Twist Travel immediately in writing. You will be liable to pay the following cancellation charges:

  1. Where your booking is for a package, you will be responsible for all cancellation charges, of whatsoever nature, imposed by the suppliers providing the component parts of such travel arrangements.
  2. African Twist Travel charges a cancellation fee equal to 30% of the package price on any finalized booking. 6 weeks before the start of your trip, a 100% cancellation fee applies. Special COVID-19 conditions (see beginning of Terms and Conditions).


African Twist Travel is a member of SATSA. All SATSA members have a financial guarantee in place to cover monetary deposits lodged with the member in advance of services to be rendered.


If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability, which may affect your holiday, you need to give us full details in writing at the time of booking. If we reasonably feel unable to properly accommodate the particular needs of the person concerned, we reserve the right to decline their reservation or, if full details are not given at the time of booking, cancel when we become aware of these details. Our standard cancellations policy will apply.


Please be aware that hotels undergo renovations from time to time. Hotels take all possible steps to limit disruption to their guests. We will not entertain complaints or requests for refunds if a hotel is carrying out renovations whilst a guest is resident. If we are specifically advised of renovation work, dates may be provided, we will inform the client but it is important to remember that these are subject to change and we are not always notified.


Any charges made to your credit card whilst away are your responsibility. African Twist Travel will not be responsible, nor accept responsibility for having these charges reversed or corrected.


Except where otherwise expressly stated in these booking conditions, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected, or you otherwise suffer any damage or loss, as a result of “force majeure”. In these Booking Conditions, “force majeure” means any event, which we or the supplier of the service(s) in question could not, even with all due care, foresee or avoid. Such events may include war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity or actual threatened terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, pandemics, adverse weather conditions, fire and all similar events outside our control.


African Twist Travel act as agent only for local and international ground operators and accordingly accepts no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, injury, accidents, illness, delays, or any other irregularity howsoever arising (including flight cancellations). African Twist Travel makes every effort to ensure that all the arrangements and services connected with a passenger’s itinerary will be carried out as specified in the most efficient and effective way possible. However, we do not have direct control over the provision of services by suppliers and, whilst they are in all cases selected with the utmost care, we do not accept liability for error and omissions of such suppliers. This would include the possibility of limited use of swimming pools, bath tubs and water based activities due to the current drought situation in South Africa.


African Twist Travel reserves the right to change, modify, add to or remove portions from or the whole of these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Changes to these Terms and Conditions will become effective upon such changes being posted to our Website. It is the Client’s obligation to periodically check these Terms and Conditions at the Website for changes or updates. The Client’s continued use of this Website following the posting of changes or updates will be considered notice of the Client’s acceptance to abide by and be bound by these Terms and Conditions, including such changes or updates. (This does not apply to confirmed bookings where the deposit payment has already been made).


African Twist Travel shall be entitled, as its option to institute any legal proceedings arising out of or in connection with this contract in any Magistrates Court having jurisdiction in terms of section 29 of the Magistrate’s Court Act No 32/1944 as amended, notwithstanding that the amount in issue may exceed the limits of such jurisdiction.


This document together with African Twist Travel’s invoice/itinerary constitutes the sole record of the agreement between the parties. No party shall be bound by any representation, warranty, and promise of the like not recorded herein. No addition to the African Twist Travel’s standard booking conditions shall be of any force or effect unless in writing and signed by or on behalf of the parties. No indulgence, which African Twist Travel, (“the grantor”), may grant to the client (“the grantee”), shall constitute a waiver of any of the rights of the grantor, who shall not thereby be precluded from exercising any rights against the grantee, which may have arisen in the past or which might arise in the future. All costs and disbursements, including legal costs on the attorney and client scale incurred by African Twist Travel in recovering any damages and payments payable by the client to African Twist Travel shall be for the clients’ account. This agreement shall be in all respects governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
